Rational Bézier Curves Approximated by Bernstein-Jacobi Hybrid Polynomial Curves
In this paper, we propose a linear method for C approximation of rational Bézier curve with arbitrary degree polynomial curve. Based on weighted least-squares, the problem be converted to an approximation between two polynomial curves. Then applying Bernstein-Jacobi hybrid polynomials, we obtain the resulting curve. In order to reduce error, degree reduction method for Bézier curve is used. A e...
متن کاملMemetic Electromagnetism Algorithm for Finite Approximation with Rational Bézier Curves
The problem of obtaining a discrete curve approximation to data points appears recurrently in several real-world fields, such as CAD/CAM (construction of car bodies, ship hulls, airplane fuselage), computer graphics and animation, medicine, and many others. Although polynomial blending functions are usually applied to solve this problem, some shapes cannot yet be adequately approximated by usin...
متن کاملDerivatives of rational Bézier curves
Two equations are presented which express the derivative of a rational Bézier curve in terms of its control points and weights. These equations are natural generalisations of the non-rational case and various properties are found from them. Bounds on the magnitude of the derivative and the direction of the derivative (the hodograph) are obtained. Expressions for the second derivative, curvature...
متن کاملSingularities of rational Bézier curves
We prove that if an nth degree rational Bézier curve has a singular point, then it belongs to the two (n− 1)th degree rational Bézier curves defined in the (n− 1)th step of the de Casteljau algorithm. Moreover, both curves are tangent at the singular point. A procedure to construct Bézier curves with singularities of any order is given. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملHigh order approximation of rational curves by polynomial curves
We show that many rational parametric curves can be interpolated, in a Hermite sense, by polynomial curves whose degree, relative to the number of data being interpolated, is lower than usual. The construction unifies and generalizes the families of circle and conic approximations of Lyche and Mørken and the author in which the approximation order is twice the degree of the polynomial.
